What
glue to use for your jewelry-making project? Read the descriptions below,
then come in our shop to pick up what you need.
| E6000 Adhesive Perfect for attaching findings
to base metal, gluing a stone to a setting, and replacing rhinestones to costume
jewelry pieces. E-6000 is the jeweler's glue of choice, and our favorite.
It is a one-part epoxy, (meaning you don't have to mix anything to make the glue
-- it just comes out of a tube). E6000 dries like rubber, so its seal acts like
a shock absorber when a piece is dropped. - Safe
for use with virtually every type of gemstone and works on wood, leather, vinyl,
and canvas.
- Non-corrosive and self-leveling, E-6000
adheres in 5 to 10 minutes, and hardens to a clear, waterproof cure in 24 hours.
This means you have about 10 minutes to position and reposition whatever you are
gluing. If you are making jewelry, you should let the piece dry "hard"
overnight before you wear it.

| G-S Hypo Cement Ideal for silk, Organza
ribbon, Stretch Magic, nylon cords: non-brittle, dries clear, will not take the
shine off of pearls, and does not travel down the cord. Apply to the knotted or
finished ends of your bead strand to prevent the knot from fraying and coming
loose. Extra fine tip is also useful when gluing rhinestones. 1/3 oz. tube.

| Zap a Gap Thick, gap-filling instant adhesive,
perfect for gluing Memory Wire End Caps. - Perfect
adhesive for those jobs with spaces or cracks of less than 1/16". Apply the
glue then place the parts together. Zap-A-Gap will stick to any non-greasy, porous
material.
- It's cyanoacrylate ester based, like
superglue. Zap-A-Gap dries fast. It takes about 10 seconds for Zap-A-Gap to dry.
It's SUPER strong and WILL glue your fingers together. Bonds made with Zap-A-Gap
will dry hard and are very difficult to break.
- Unlike
a lot of wimpy, cheap super-glues, Zap-A-Gap is completely waterproof. It will
never dissolve or break down when it is exposed to water.
- Zap-A-Gap
has a great container. A lot of cheap super glues have a foil type pouch which
will either dent, get holes in it or will have tops that gunk up and will never
allow you to remove the top. Zap-A-Gap comes in a small plastic tub. The top locks
tight and won't spill.
Tips for Using Zap-A-Gap:
- Always use less than you think you'll really
need. You can always add more glue but it is a mess if you try to remove too much.
- If
you get some on your fingers, keep your fingers apart and allow the glue to dry.
Don't use a Kleenex or paper towel to rub it off. This will only make your fingers
fuzzy and won't do anything to get the glue off your fingers. If you get it on
your skin, you just have to wait several days until it wears off. Or, take a fine
grit piece of sand paper and gently rub the spot off. If you work the sand paper
too hard you'll tear up your skin, so take your time.

Super Glue We advise against using superglue
for most jewelry-making projects. Superglue discolors stones and takes the shine
off of pearls. Superglue dries like glass, so its seal shatters like glass when
a piece is dropped. If you want an instant, strong glue, we recommend Zap-A-Gap. |
