a very accessible introduction to soldering as done in jewelry-making. What makes
this soldering workshop different from others? It's kept simple, safe and non-toxic.
Using a butane torch and a bracelet mandrel, students will learn essential
soldering techniques for soldering any metal, including sterling silver, fine
silver, gold-filled, karat gold, copper and brass. Topics covered include fire
safety, annealing, work hardening, and oxidizing. Students will leave class with
1 to 4 sterling silver, gold filled or copper bracelets. What

Knotted Necklace (a.k.a. Pearl Knotting) | Pearl
knotting is a beading technique in which you use silk or nylon thread and tie
knots between the beads. Originally it was used for pearl necklaces so that when
they broke, you would only lose one pearl. Now it is used with all types of beads
for elegance and style. What you will learn:

Soldered Bezel | Whether you are a soldering
novice or someone who is looking to gain more soldering experience, this workshop
will teach you the ins and outs of soldering a nickel-sized bezel for a pendant.
Bring your own tiny or not-so-tiny treasures, such as broken or flat-backed beads,
pebbles, beach glass, shards or cabochons or choose from the shop's selection.
Additional techniques include sawing and filing, although this will be minimal.
As with all of Iris's classes, she will emphasize keeping the soldering steps
