In this job, you'll have the opportunity every day to inspire people's natural creativity in our retail bead store in Alameda. We hire friendly people who want to inspire others through their love of beading and to provide excellent customer service. The associate will also be responsible for assisting with jewelry repairs, maintaining the cleanliness of the store space, setting up displays, computer work, inventory work and other behind-the-scenes tasks involved with running a retail operation. The following is required as part of your regular work schedule:
Requests for weekends off are almost always accommodated, as long as other staff members are available to cover our weekend shifts during these busy and lively times.. However, the regular work schedule involves working one weekend day per week.

Employees are eligible for jewelry-making classes, employee discounts, and opportunities to learn to teach classes. We offer a flexible schedule and the opportunity to do what you love as part of an inspiring team in a creative environment. Compensation depends on experience. Although the position starts off as part-time, there may be opportunity for full-time in the future, if you have skills or are willing to learn website maintenance and and email marketing and social media marketing.
Our position of Sales Associate requires previous beading experience, since people come in the shop looking to our staff for answers to their beading questions and jewelry repair questions. Although employees get on-the-job and off-the-job training, we need people who aleady have some familiarity with beading. Please only apply for this position if you have previous beading experience and can work the days listed.
Interested, but don't have beading or jewelry-making experience?
If you don't have beading or jewelry-making experience, it does not take too much time to learn. If it is of interest to you, you could take one of our classes. We offer a Free Introduction to Jewelry Making Class on the first Saturday of each month, as well as many beginner classes that have class fees. We also have extra help and internship opportunities that do not require beading experience. We have projects that involve posting events on facebook and meetup, uploading email addresses to our online email service provider, and other compter data entry and inventory tasks. This is a position where you'd be paid as a contractor (not an employee), working one day a week for 3-5 hours per week on Monday, Thursday or Friday. We have Operational Internship opportunities available in exchange for store credit that do not require previous beading experience. These would involve bagging items, tagging, cleaning, data entry. This would give you some experience and familiarity with the merchandise, our systems, and allow you to gain experience. Typically interns would work a 3-5 hour shift between 11:30 and 6:30 once a week on Monday, Thursday or Friday.
People with beading experience can be considered for class instructor or kid's beading party instructor.
In addition to helping out on the sales floor, people with other skills and experience can take additional responsibility for operational tasks for increased compensation. Responsibilities may include: maintaining our email list, web order fulfillment; assist with preparing purchase orders, receiving & other inventory tasks, promote classes, implement store promotions using various media, including Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, various websites; maintain merchandising; prepare in-store signage website maintenance; bookkeeping; perform administrative tasks; or sales management.

Web Operations Associate
You'll be responsible for updating our website, identifying items to purchase, receiving shipments, creating receiving vouchers, inventory work, order fulfillment, computer work, class logistics, creating marketing emails, posting on social networks, and other behind-the-scenes tasks involved with running a thriving retail operation.
