Create unique keepsake pendants or decorative ornaments, both great for giving as gifts or keeping for yourself!  This technique is not just great for the holidays, you can make wonderful pendants for any time of year! Learn new ways to incorporate the classic technique of soldering with a soldering iron into stunning focal pieces for your next  jewelry project or ornaments for your tree. You will learn key tricks & tips for how to frame glass-encased pictures, pottery shards and colored glass.   What you will learn: • Key steps of the soldering process when using a soldering iron • How to manipulate specific tools and materials • How to incorporate your finished piece into your design • How to cut glass Prerequisite: None   Materials: Students will need to purchase the Soldered Pendant or Ornament class materials kit #10908 ($10 kit) at time of registration.  Kit contains: 4 glass slides - 2 slides per pendant (several sizes of slide glass will be available) copper foil tape solder used for stained glass Additional glass slides -- including colored glass slides -- are available for purchase in class for $3/pair of slides.  There are no discounts given on class materials kits or additional slides. When you purchase the kit online, please mark for store pickup. The kit will be given to you when you come to the class. If students want to use photos or cut-outs, they should bring their own. You may choose additional materials for your project, such as beads for embellishment, findings, cord or chain from our large selection, or bring your own. At the end of class you will pay for the materials you used for your project.     Tools: Soldering Iron (3 will be provided by instructor; students will work in pairs) Colored Glass Fire Brick Flux, with flux bowls and brushes Glass Cutters Locking tweezersAll necessary tools will be provided in the class by the instructor.  If student does not wish to share a soldering iron, they may bring their own.
